Zapphaire Events had its 1st Bridal Workshop on the 28th & 29th of March 2009.
The workshop drew participants from brides-to-be to prospective planners.
The concept was designed to respond to numerous demands by prospective brides and grooms on how to have a wedding even without a planner.
True to its aim, the event which held at Lydo Lounge and Bar on Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, with guests filling the hall to capacity did justice to frequently asked questions such as: Why do I need a planner? How do I draw my budget? How do I theme my wedding? etc
With guest speakers such as Tara Fela-Durotoye, Debola Lewis, Tee A, Muyiwa Osindero, Dayo Ajala, Ayo Olatoye and T- Laff, Funke Bucknor-Obruthe took the attendees on a ride of discovery and empowerment.
The programme began with an opening prayer from Mrs Funmi Latunji-Oni before Funke Bucknor-Obruthe came to analyse the intrigues of styling/theming one’s wedding. The interactive session afforded the attendees an opportunity to ask critical questions to all which Funke gave appropriate answers.
To some who wanted to know if anything was wrong in engaging a planner for her wedding, Funke cleared the dust by insisting that if they must get a planner, they should go for only the professional.
Muyiwa Osindero gave an enthralling speech on Grooming for men after Funke’s first speech. He touched every aspect of how the groom and his men should look on the once-in-a-lifetime event.
Muyiwa’s speech was followed by Yvent Kouture CEO, Debola Lewis who dealt extensively with issues concerning befitting décor/ambience for the big day.
Other speakers were Tara fela-Durotoye, who took the audience around the world of make-over in relation to bride and her train’s mood before and on the wedding day; Tee A who talked on the qualities that should determine the
choosing of one’s wedding MC; Ayo Olatoye who lectured the audience on choosing the right love song to be danced to by couples during their first dance; and Dayo Ajala who shed light on planning a low cost honeymoon in Africa and Caribbean states.
Apart from the informational speeches of the guest speakers, attendees were introduced to top-of-the-range service providers who came either as exhibitors or presenters. With some minutes of presentation, professional vendors provided valuable information in fields including photography, smallchops, cocktail, decoration, bridal wears, Luxury chair rentals, native aso oke, Videography, make over, drinks
On the second day of the workshop, Funke gave a recap of the previous day’s programme before proceeding to giving an enlightening speech on adequate Budgeting for wedding. She did justice to every aspect of this knotty issue so well that attendees started drawing their budget on the spot.
After ‘budgeting’ Funke proceeded into discussion on choosing adequate vendors for an event.
The well attended workshop afforded every attendee an opportunity to take advantage of the discounted rates of products by exhibitors to strike good deals for their upcoming wedding.
Attendees could not hide their satisfaction with the workshop so much that they started making enquiries for when the next workshop would hold.
The event which was anchored by Niyi Badmus and T-Laff was proudly sponsored by Venivici, Derock, TSP, Sakal Marketing, Yvent Kouture, House of Tara and K-Square. |
